Ms Proper
CO-OWNER/ARTIST/BOOKING COORDINATOR
There must be something
in the water in Fayetteville, N.C. There seems to be no shortage of talented
artists from that area, and Ms Proper is no exception.
Ms Proper was born there in 1987 but eventually
moved to Chesterfield, VA as a young child. Inspired by her Mother, who wrote
poetry, she learned to express herself through words and started writing at age
8. At first it was just a hobby, until High School where she used it as an
outlet for her thoughts and emotions. Realizing how much she wanted to be known
through her music she started her own label, So Proper Entertainment.
Ms Proper has released 4 mixtapes since 2007 and has made major accomplishments
and gained notoriety with each release. From features on mixtapes like Digital
Dynasty and Mike Bevins (New Edition) to opening for artists like Jae Millz,
Big K.R.I.T., Cyhi Da Prince and Pretty Ricky. Major industry insiders have
been extremely impressed with her talent, energy and fashion sense. She was the
second place winner of BET’s 106 & Park, Wild Out Wednesday contest in July
2011.
In January 2012, Ms Proper was part of a prospective VH1 TV Show which was
filmed in Atlanta, and gained her MC Shan as a fan. She’s been asked to play
multiple festivals on the East Coast and in April 2013 was asked to be a
speaker and performer at the Douglas Byrd High School in her hometown of
Fayetteville, N.C. for the “Real Talk” Teen Summit for the prevention of Teen
pregnancies.
Ms Proper’s 2011 mixtape, #NoDaysOff speaks to her dedication to working hard
for the music and culture she loves. Her dedication shows in her constant
touring often, up and down the East Coast, cementing her label So Proper
Entertainment with a stable of talented local artists, co-founding an internet
radio station called R Rated Radio, and starting her own fashion meme with her
#HipHopMadeMeCool t-shirts and wrist bands which has been hugely successful
during the 2012 year. In January 2013 she released her first official video for
the single “Get It Started”, which you can find on iTunes.
2013 will only get better. Her debut album, Escaping Reality will be released
later in the year. Her #HipHopMadeMeCool movement will continue unabated and
she’ll garner more attention from the industry and fans alike. Proving that Ms.
Proper is always on the mic and ready for the next challenge.
